Otrokovice is a modern industrial centre whose development started in the 1930 by construction of the Bata factories and was further accelerated in the 1970’s with the opening of the new tyre production plant. Currently, the town of Otrokovice with its almost 19 thousand inhabitants is the sixth largest city in the Zlín region and is the centre of a micro-region covering municipalities with a total population of nearly 35,000 residents. The town consists of three different parts: part Kvítkovice used to be a separate village (family houses), part Trávníky and Střed are large housing estates built in the 70s for citizens who moved to work in the factory (now Barum Coninental), part Baťov was established in 1930s for employees of Baťa's factories (Baťa's houses). Life in every part of the city has its pros and cons, and it is necessary to communicate with citizens and listen to their wishes and complaints. The most important communication seems to be on the topic of revitalization of the Trávníky housing estate and the solution of transport services in the Baťov part. Representatives would like to find the inspiration from more experienced colleagues in partner countries
