Objective of the Project

The aim of the project is to develop a multifactorial approach in the treatment of stroke and chronic SCI combining different biomaterials (natural or synthetic) as bridging materials and/or as stem cell carriers with growth factors and stem cells from different sources (olfactory ensheathing cells, neural stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells or neural precursors derived from induced pluripotent stem cells. The results will therefore contribute towards identifying common therapeutic strategies with translational potential applicable to clinical treatment of stroke and/or spinal cord injury.
