Project description:

The purpose of the Media and documentary 2.0 is to help in the professional growth of the young Czech film critics and journalists, to exchange experiences between Czech and leading foreign publicists and the social and cultural dialogue. Last but not least, the project offers the cooperation of magazines focused on documentary film – dok.revue and Modern Times Review. An associated value of the project would be to increase awareness of contemporary world documentaries in Czech and Central European documentaries in the field of foregoing journalism and criticism.

The main objective of the project is to get in touch with the international scene – not only by cooperation between the Czech magazine dok.revue and Norwegian magazine Modern Times Review, but also thanks to participants of the Media and documentary 2.0, who can become the new authorial base for the magazines dok.revue and/or Modern Times Review, capable to reflect the important topics of the contemporary documentary films and able to reflect it in their critical writing.

A desired benefit is that the participants of the project will be capable of thinking about film in the broadest possible context they will be able to form their opinions and get practical tools for mastering the craft. Well-written reviews and analyses of documentary film are an important tool for its further development, and often become the subject of greater discussion in society - discussion between critics, documentary filmmakers and also cinema goers and the public.

The innovation and creativity of this project is that it enables the dialog not only between the Czech and Norwegian film critics and journalists, but it also opens social and culture dialogue, as the documentary films, which are subject to the criticism, often focus on topics currently prevalent in the society.

It will help in the professional growth of the young Czech film critics and journalists, because it enables the exchange of experience and points of view in the field of film criticism. Czech critical writing will get in touch with the international scene and will get the opportunity to be published in English. This project will broaden the view point and topics about contemporary documentary films and also to broaden the authorial base of the both magazines.
