Project description:

The project goal is to bring back a multipurpose use of the “Sokolovna” building built in 1898 by the native German population (Turnverein Association).

The project is focused on a revitalization of the building, reviving thus not only the cultural monument but also its surroundings. Sokolovna is closely connected with the history of the town which is graphically presented throughout the whole building. It begins at the well in the basement, winds through the entrance foyer and continues into the attic with several exhibitions describing the history. The present -  a symbolic connection between students and traditional jewellery and glass companies - is shown in the tower. The presented story will be supported by ongoing events that will take place in a multifunctional hall in the basement. Its foyer will offer a background for the Sokol Association. The whole space is designed for exhibitions, lectures and seminars.

Based on the main theme “Searching the Lost Identity“, the events will focus on the quality perception of the public space and buildings, and on the historical heritage of the original population. The project will be implemented with the support and in cooperation with the City of Jablonec nad Nisou, PLAC and Different Jablonec, secondary schools in the city, Technical University of Liberec, club Kruháč - Diakonie Jablonec and the District Chamber of Commerce.
