Project description:
The goal of the project is to explore how designers and architects in the Czech Republic perceive the principle of universal design and its application in the public space, how they understand the potential for the development of subsequent projects and to support the engagement of the new generation.
The different approaches to universal design across Europe among the Czech and Norwegian partners will be discussed during the Zlin Design Week festival in 2022 and 2023. The Zlin Design Week Festival continues the long tradition of design in the Zlín Region. In 2022, the city of Zlín will celebrate 700 years since its founding - the main theme of the next year of the festival, universal design, will bring the opportunity to outline the possibilities of the city's development in the coming years.
In cooperation with the project partners, there will be research on the perception of universal design involving designers and architects from the Czech Republic, conferences and discussion panels with international experts, a series of workshops to introduce the topic to young creators in practical terms, and an exhibition presenting the examples of best practice of implementing universal design across Europe. These outputs will help to improve the qualifications of beginning designers and highlight possible solutions to current societal challenges through art. The project will offer designers the opportunity to find inspiration, share their know-how and learn from professionals.
