The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic will offer more than 31 million Crowns from Norway grants for eco-education and information projects. In the newly announced grant call called "Reine", Fund will support projects in four areas - improving the environmental status in ecosystems, reducing the adverse effects of human activity on air quality, reducing the adverse effects of human activity on water quality, mitigating climate change and adapting to climate change at the local level. It will support not only educational programs aimed at schools, the lay and professional public, but new television documentaries and radio programs, publications and online campaigns can also be created. Electronic receipt of applications will start on 15 December 2020 and will last until mid-February next year.
„The Reine Call is common to all areas of support addressed by the Norway Grants’ Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change Programme. All applicants from among legal entities can receive financial support from 130 thousand to 1.3 million crowns for one project, the subsidy will cover up to 90 percent of the total eligible expenditures. Thematically, they have a choice of four areas - protection of ecosystems, reducing the negative impact of human activities on air quality, water quality and adaptation to climate change at the local level. We have 7,8 million crowns for each area of support,“ Petr Valdman, Director of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic, presents the Call.
Applicants can choose from a full range of educational environmental activities. The funds are intended for the preparation of conferences, seminars, courses or trainings. They can target company employees, school youth, professionals and the general public. The Reine Call is not only about the eco-education programs. The support is also directed to awareness-raising projects, such as the creation of informational professional and popular science materials, such as radio programs, documentaries, publications or online educational campaigns.
Applications for support can be submitted online via the Agenda Information System AIS of the SEF CR. You can submit your applications from December 15, 2020 to February 15, 2021. Among other things, applicant shall submit a list of references which proving all experiences with the implementation of information or educational campaigns. Due to the lower allocation of this Call and the relatively high interest from potential applicants, one applicant will be able to submit a maximum of one application in each area of support. Supported projects must be implemented by 30 June 2023 at the latest.
„We believe that we will be able to support as many interesting projects as possible, which will contribute to greater awareness of environmental issues and help shape a positive and responsible approach to the environment,“ concludes Petr Valdman.
The Call got its name from the Norwegian village Reine, located in the north of the country on the famous Lofoten archipelago. Originally a fishing village, today it is one of the most common destinations for tourists who come here not only for beautiful natural scenery. The view from the local mountain Reinebringen on the village surrounded by the sea and the sharp peaks of the mountains is one of the most famous picture of Norway. Lofoten itself is located about 100-200 kilometres behind the Arctic Circle and it is a climatic anomaly, because despite their location, the temperature in the southern part of the archipelago does not fall below freezing.
