Project description:

The aim of the project is to strengthen the position and responsibility of the Roma community in dealing with its affairs through a radical increase in the number of Roma advisors in the town of Tábor.

At the end of the project, Tábor will have two (preferably gender- and ethnically-balanced) trained, trained and widely respected experts on Roma issues. They will know how to mediate contact between the Roma community, city representatives and other organisations in order to improve the situation of the Roma community in Tábor and how to promote systemic changes within the city's policies leading to greater involvement and accountability of local Roma people. They will have analyses, studies and plans and recommendations behind them, on the basis of which they will be able to argue substantively with the city leadership and the Roma community.

The project is also expected to strengthen the Roma community's ability to come together to achieve its goals, and the Roma advisors will motivate Roma people to establish associations or other formal civil society organizations. Roma people will also be supported in raising funds for their activities and will go from being passive beneficiaries to becoming active partners of the city and other entities.

Roma advisors will be stable links in the local and regional network after the project and will represent Roma interests in planning activities at the local and regional level.
