Project description:

The intention of the project is to establish closer cooperation between Roma and pro-Roma actors in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc regions and to create a new Roma platform that will be an instrument of that cooperation, support Roma participation in decision-making processes in the region, and help improve the position of Roma people in society.

The resulting platform will enable the long-term and systematic connection of Roma leaders in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc regions and the establishment of effective regional cooperation between the relevant entities in the region. Emphasis will also be placed on networking, including the exchange of experiences and the transfer of examples of good practice between the communities involved. The establishment of the platform will create a space for discussion on Roma issues, and its representatives will become respected partners of municipal authorities and other actors in the region.

The project's goals also include strengthening the activities of the Roma leaders involved in their communities, during which they can practically test the skills they have acquired through their education. The training will be implemented in the form of participatory and interactive workshops that will focus in particular on improving the communication, facilitation, organisational or strategic skills of Roma leaders and the formation of engaged civic attitudes. In this way, the project will support some local community activities of the leaders cooperating with the project partners.

A partial goal of the project is to educate the general public through seminars, online campaigns, and the dissemination of positive role models of successful Roma people among representatives of the majority society, which is expected to improve the image of Roma people and thus contribute to promoting their inclusion and strengthening their position in their respective regions and in Czech society.
