Summary:

According to the Social Inclusion Strategy of the Czech Republic 2021-2030, The strategy of the Education Policy of the Czech Republic until 2030, and even according to project promoters´ practical experience, early departures of Roma pupils from education are a major problem. Early school leaving is often caused by a lack of motivation for both Roma pupils and students themselves and their parents. The project responds to this situation and aims to create an environment that encourages Roma pupils and students to continue their education.

The project will be implement mainly in the town of Velké Hamry, in the Liberec Region. Some holiday extracurricular activities will be implemented outside the Liberec region within the Czech Republic. Project promoter will implement holiday extracurricular and leisure activities aiming at a versatile personality to develop Roma children, pupils, and students and spend time together.

The project will also focus on increasing the competencies of professional pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff in the field of inclusion of Roma pupils through internships and workshops. The school will have a school attendance coordinator, whose job will be primarily to communicate with the school and Roma families in the field of education. The school attendance coordinator will work with other actors who can influence the prevention of school failure.

Last but not least, the project will support multicultural dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect between the Roma and the majority society by organizing events for the general public.
