Objective of the Project |
The project is based on the State Environmental Policy of the Czech Republic, it is closely linked to the Concept of the protection of nature of the South Moravian Region and it meets the selected objectives of strategic and planning documents in the field of nature and landscape protection. In the first phase the project includes an analysis of the status of occurrence of threatened species of woody plants in the Czech Republic. Given that in the Regulation No. 395/1992 Coll. the number of endangered woody plants species is omitted, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive assessment and to supplement this Regulation of the appropriate species, i.e. on the basis of the identified situation a complete list of endangered species of woody plants will be made. One of the outputs will be a Red Book of woody plants in the Czech Republic, which will form the basis for legislative amendments to Regulation No. 395/1992 Coll., or to Annex. No. II. The workplace of the applicant is one of the few in the Czech Republic which specialize in the field of dendrology - evaluation of woody plants species and their ecology, both in terms of personnel as well as technical instruments. In the past, a publication Woody Plants in the Czech Republic was prepared here (Ministry of Education grant Reg. No. LP 0081). Subsequently, at the request of the Ministry of Environment a Red List of Woody Plants of the Czech Republic was prepared (in 2005). On two selected territories (TFE Křtiny and floodplain forests BR Lower Morava) a survey of endangered species of organisms and evaluation of the given areas in cooperation with the government (AOPK) and management of BR DM o.p.s. will be carried out. The knowledge gained will be used in processing the Red Lists of endangered species of organisms in the individual units. For the BR DM area the following publications will be issued: Red List of BR DM plants, Red List of BR DM Vertebrates and Red List of BR DM invertebrates. A BR DM map with small individual protected areas and endangered species description of selected organisms will be also prepared. For the TFE an electronic output Red List of TFE will be prepared. All the data on occurrence will be entered into a database finding AOPK. Furthermore, in cooperation with AOPK and BR DM o.p.s. a training of civil servants, local government, forest plant Zidlochovice and TFE seminars for determination and protection of selected endangered species will be conducted. Furthermore a BR DM map with particularly small-scale protected areas and a description of selected endangered species of organisms will be prepared. From the area of TFE Křtiny an electronic output Red List of TFE Křtiny will be prepared. All the data on occurrence will be entered into the occurrence database AOPK. Furthermore, in cooperation with AOPK and BR DM o.p.s. a training of employees of government, local government, forest plant Zidlochovice and TFE Křtiny will be conducted by means of seminars for determination and protection of selected endangered species. Even the general public and university students will be familiarized with the issue of endangered species and their protection by means of seminars, for small children a game of pairs with endangered species of BR Lower Morava will be prepared. Brief guides in electronic versions to protect organisms will be published as well. Based on the field researches plant species for a pilot rescue program for endangered species will be selected. For this purpose two poly-carbonate greenhouses with accessories will be built in the TFE Křtiny tree nursery. The collection of fruits and seeds will take place mainly in the TFE Křtiny or on the BR area. Cultivated plants will be used to strengthen the existing populations or to restore extinct populations. The knowledge gained in the propagation of plants can be used within the rescue programs in the Czech Republic. In the future students of MENDELU will participate in solving the issues of propagation of endangered plant species by means of the final thesis. The main source of information about the progress of the project and its outcomes will be newly created project websites. The project results will be published in professional journals (Nature Protection, Forestry work). The knowledge gained will be used within the project's sustainability in the future when creating and processing the forest management principles for endangered species of organisms and in the development of management plans for MZCHÚ.
