Objective of the Project |
The aim of the project is to accelerate and streamline the process of travel documents control at international airports via use of automated border control system. Automated biometric handling system at external borders communicates with electronic passports and is equipped with appropriate biometric verification technology that is based on international standards so that interoperability could be ensured. The system of automated biometric border control enables implementation of border control of persons with travel documents with biometrics. It is the development of new working methods, logistic measures and modern technologies to strengthen identity controls on entry and exit on border crossings. The project also aims at increasing awareness of travellers of possibilities and advantages of automated biometric control. Travel documents control must be also fully integrated into the process of manual border control in the first and second control line. For this reason, another part of the project is equipment of check-in sites of border control by full-page readers of travel documents enabling automated control of electronic and optical part of travel documents and by working assemblies for a thorough inspection of electronic part of travel documents in the second control line of border control. |
