Community prisons as an inspiration for the Czech prison system. And new instruction videos for those entering prison. These are the outcomes of bilateral initiatives implemented under the Human Rights and Justice programmes.
The Rubicon Centre together with its Norwegian partner Wayback organised a round table entitled "Community Prisons and other experiences, trends and challenges in the Norwegian prison system". You can watch the key moments in this video (the summary is available only in the Czech language on the Czech version of the website)
In the past, the project Fulfilling the Bangkok Rules in the Czech Republic: a way to promote the human rights of imprisoned and released women produced an instructional video for women entering prison (watch here).
Now a similar video has been made for men. It was produced in cooperation between the Rubikon Centre and the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, which will use it. The aim is to make it easier for the convicts to enter prison, but also to offer them a way to use the time spent during their sentence in a meaningful way to prepare for their return to society.
Like the previous successful video for women, it was filmed in Prague Ruzyně Prison and Příbram Prison by the team of director Kateřina Hladíková. In addition to experts, the script was written with the help of the Rubikon Centre staff, who have their own lived experience of being in prison. The main role was played by actor Petr Pěknic.
