Objective of the Project |
The project is focused on rehabilitation and reconstruction of the historic monument – SVIJANY CASTLE with an adjacent building of the "old school" and the area, and on the creation of an optimum environment for museum collections – ARCHAEOLOGICAL FINDS FROM THE BRONZE AGE and THE CASTLE´S HISTORY SINCE THE RENAISSANCE. The building of the castle is heavily devastated, some parts are in disrepair, threatening another existence of the entire castle. Repair is necessary for this monument. The castle is located at a place of unique sites from the Bronze Age that have been discovered in the 19th century. Currently other important discoveries have been made, about which no one from the general public knows. The project aims to make available this unique heritage to the public and put exhibits into special showcases, in which they will not deteriorate compared to archival storage rooms of the museum. Within the project other movable cultural monuments will be restored and published: paintings and historic furniture, for which more suitable premises can be found in the castle compared to depository warehouses of NPÚ. From the mid. 2016 the restored castle will be permanently open to the public, who will find there: a consecrated chapel of the castle; exhibition spaces with the history of the castle; unique archaeological finds from the Bronze Age; archaeological workshop; changing exhibition presenting the Roma culture and folklore, as well as a variety of artists, collectors, enthusiasts, education (Montessori); visitor center with a representative of the Liberec region and access to tourist information system (TIS). |
