A Gypsy woman, Anna, assumed care of her relative’s children who were sexually abused. The care continued for several years without government institutions being notified about the fact; later, Anna became the foster mother of the children. Currently, the children are of full legal age and completely functional in majority society. The main goal of the project is to create a case study of Anna’s life. It will describe her life strategies and the professional strategies of participating workers. The outcomes of the project can be a tool to support the inclusion of Gypsies in majority society and professional work with victims of domestic violence which could contribute to decreasing occurences of domestic violence. The target group is care workers. Anna’s biography will have the potential to disrupt their prejudices related to the ethnicity and gender of clients; at the same time it will highlight Anna’s ability to bring the culture of her community into accord with the justified requirements of majority society.
