Concrete surfaces in cities are not only an aesthetic problem, but also have a negative impact on the environment and the quality of life of the inhabitants. The project REPLACE - Green in place of concrete in Ostrava seeks to address this issue by transforming unused concrete areas into green zones that have the ability to regulate the ambient temperature, improve air quality and create a more pleasant living environment for citizens and visitors to the city.
The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic, as the Programme Operator of the Programme „Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change“, supported by the Norway Grants 2014-2021, launches this Call no. SGS-2 from the Programme, named after the northernmost Norwegian archipelago „Svalbard.“ Total allocation of the Call is EUR 1,000,000 (CZK 25,000,000).

The Call is focused on the submission of project proposals related to scientific research projects, innovative projects and the transfer of examples of good practice in the field of protection of ecosystems and biodiversity to the conditions of environmental protection in the Czech Republic.
The grant Call from the programme Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change focuses on the protection of water quality in the Czech Republic and the reduction of surface water pollution by micropollutants – specifically pharmaceuticals and their metabolites.
The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic will offer more than 31 million Crowns from Norway grants for eco-education and information projects. In the newly announced grant call called "Reine", Fund will support projects in four areas - improving the environmental status in ecosystems, reducing the adverse effects of human activity on air quality, reducing the adverse effects of human activity on water quality, mitigating climate change and adapting to climate change at the local level. It will support not only educational programs aimed at schools, the lay and professional public, but new television documentaries and radio programs, publications and online campaigns can also be created. Electronic receipt of applications will start on 15 December 2020 and will last until mid-February next year.
Up to 200 000 EUR for the conservation of endangered natural habitats and red-listed plant or animal species can be obtained for those interested in the new subsidy Call from the Norway Grants. In the "Rondane” Call, the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic offers a total of EUR 3 million for small rescue projects in localities outside specially protected areas. The submission of applications will start on September 14, 2020.
The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic launches a call "Tromso" in the Program "Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change". In total 2,5 million EUR is prepared for cities, municipalities and other applicants for monitoring and analysis of the air condition. The grant will cover up to 100% of eligible project costs.
The State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic launches the first call in the Environment, Ecosystems and Climate Change Programme, in which it will offer legal entities CZK 26 million to develop adaptation strategies to adapt to climate change at local and regional level. In the call, named after the Norwegian metropolis, applicants can receive up to 1,3 million Czech crowns, respectively cover up to 90 percent of the project’s eligible costs. The applications can be submitted online from January 14 to March 15, 2020.
